LAHORE: Six people, including a woman, were killed in separate incidents across the provincial capital on Saturday. A 40-year-old property dealer was allegedlygunned down by his rival when he was going back home in the Ghaziabad police precincts.
The deceased was identified as Asghar Ali, a resident of Usman Nagar. Police said that the victim had developed differences with the accused, Ghulam Abbas, a few days ago.
Police have registered a murder case against the accused on the complaint of the deceased’s brother Akbar. The body was removed to the morgue for autopsy. In a separate incident, a 25-year-old was killed by four unidentified people over an unknownissue in the ShahdraTownpolice precincts. The deceased was identified as Arsalan Javed.
According to police, four unidentified peoplekilled Arsalan over some issue. A murdercase has been registered against the accused on the complaint of the deceased’s brother Faisal Javed. Policeofficials said that the cause of the murder was yet to be ascertained and investigations were underway. Separately, a 30-year-old man committed suicide over a prolonged illness by jumping into the Ravi River in the Sanda police precincts.
The deceased was identified as Sikandar, a father of three children, who was a resident of Bahawalpur and was living in a rented house on Bund Road. Police said Sikandar ended his life because he was fed up of his illness. Police handed over the body to his family after initial legal formalities.
Also, Burki Police recovered a sack-packed body of a 20-year-old youth from the BRB Canal. Police said that unidentifiedpeople had shaved the victim’s head and eyebrows before subjecting him to severe torture, which resulted in his death. Police removed the body to the city morgue for autopsy.
In another development, a 65-year-old woman was crushed to death by a rashly driven car near the Canal Link Road in the Hanjarwal policeprecincts. Police said that the deceased, yet to be identified, was crossing the road when a speeding car ran her over, as a result of which she was severely injured. Locals rushed the woman to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead. The car driver managed to escape from the scene.
Hanjarwal police has registered a case against the unidentified car driver on the complaint of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Zafar Ali. Later, police removed the body to the city morgue for autopsy. Also, a 35-year-old man was found dead in the Bhatti Gate police precincts.
The deceased, yet to be identified, was found in a critical condition near the Pir Makki Darbar and Edhi workers shifted him to the Mayo Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Police removed the body to the morgue for an autopsy. Police said that the cause of death would be ascertained after the autopsy report.
