Rawalpindi: Man killed; woman robbed
RAWALPINDI: A man was strangulated and then shot dead while he was sleeping in his makeshift tent in R.A. Bazaar police station area. Police sources said the mother of the victim, identified as Bahadur Khan, discovered his body when she came to give him breakfast. She found her son in a pool of blood with a rope tied around his neck. The murder appeared to be a result of old enmity.
Meanwhile, swindlers snatched gold ornaments and cash from an elderly woman in Gulzar-i-Quaid, the police and victim said on Sunday.
The complainant, who requested not to be named, said he and his mother-in-law went to a nearby market. He said while he was parking his car his mother-in-law moved towards the market. He said a man and a woman intercepted his mother-in-law and threw some currency notes at her feet. Moments later another couple appeared and started quarrelling to confuse her.
He said after a while, the swindlers pushed his mother-in-law into their car and snatched her gold ornaments, weighing more than 10 tolas, and her purse. On hearing her screams, he rushed to her rescue but could not catch the swindlers.
