Islamabad: 2 immigration officials sent to jail on judicial remand
ISLAMABAD: Senior Civil Judge Muhammad Aslam Gondal on Monday sent two staffers of Afghan Visa Section, Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, Ministry of Interior, to Adyala Jail on judicial remand in a case of issuing illegal passports to mint money.
A First Information Report (FIR) vide No 09/ 2011 was registered against Afghan Visa Section’s Assistant Rafaqat Ali Shah and Lower Division Clerk (LDC) Nisar Ahmed on the order of Interior Minister Rehman Malik under section 409/ 109 Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) r/w 5(2) 47 PCA on May 3 for allegedly issuing illegal passports.
FIA raided the visa section on May 3 and sealed it. Sources said the interior minister had taken serious notice of the allegations and ordered to arrest both the staffers for their alleged involvement in issuing illegal passports to Afghan nationals.
Malik also spotted a senior official hiding two illegal passports and suspended three other staffers. On May 4 FIA produced both the accused before the court and informed it that on a tip-off they raided Afghan Visa Section of Immigration and Passport.
FIA said during the raid they recovered two illegal passports from possession of the accused.
