Muttahida activist shot dead in Mehmoodabad
KARACHI: A young activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was gunned down in the Mehmoodabad area on Monday evening, police said.
They said 32-year-old Amir Razzaq was sitting with friends at a roadside barbecue shop in Mehmoodabad No 4 when armed men riding a motorbike attacked him and ran away.
“Two assailants stopped close to the shop, one of them got off the motorbike and fired multiple shots targeting Amir before running away with his accomplice,” said an official at the Baloch Colony police station.
“The victim sustained two bullet wounds in the head and died on the spot. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.”
He said the attackers used a 9mm pistol. The victim was a known activist of the MQM and lived in the same neighbourhood, added the official.
