Islamabad: Bank looted, guards beaten up
ISLAMABAD: Four armed robbers took away Rs1.3 million from a bank in Islamabad on Tuesday and badly thrashed two security guards who tried to resist the heist, police said.
The armed men entered the Bank Alfalha’s I-9 Markaz branch and made the officials, guards, and clients hostage. But when two of the security guards, Afzal Majeed and Mohammad Naseem, did not surrender their weapons, they were badly beaten, police said.
The robbers took away Rs1.3 million and the cellphones of the bank officials and clients. Quoting the officials and the clients, police said the robbers were speaking Pashto, adding that they were not wearing masks. The investigators have asked for the CCTV recording for identifying the robbers.
