Karachi: 4 fall prey to target killings
KARACHI: Unabated target killings in the metropolis on Wednesday claimed four more lives, including of two police officials. Two policemen were gunned down at New Quetta Madina Hotel, Sultanabad within the remits of Jackson police station. The police officials were taking tea at the said hotel when armed motorcyclists, wearing helmets, reached and opened fire.
Resultantly, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Manzoor Ahmed 38, son of Faqeer Mohammad, died on the spot while Constable Saleem, son of Abdul Sattar, received critical injuries.
The culprits managed to flee unchallenged while the body and injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities and treatment. During treatment, Constable Saleem also succumbed to his injuries.
SHO Naeem Ahmed said that ASI Ahmed was Lala Zar Check Post Incharge for the last eight months. He was a resident of Kalakot police line and hailed from Haripur Hazara. Officer informed that the victim gave tough time to drug peddlers throughout his career and was also a complainant in Zain-ul-Abideen case, who was killed last month during an encounter with Rangers. He said that the victim was a father of two and police had initiated the probe. No case could be registered till filing of this report.
Separately, police found two bullet-riddled bodies near Edhi Graveyard at Suparco Road, Baldia, within the jurisdiction of Mauripur police station. Identities of the victims are yet to be ascertained.
SHO Nasarullah said that unidentified culprits threw their bodies from a car and fled. Both victims were blindfolded and appeared to be of Pukhtoon descent, the officer added. The bodies were shifted to the CHK for medico-legal formalities and later moved to the Edhi Morgue for identification purpose.
