Police kill two kidnappers; arrest 2 robbers, 1 gangster
KARACHI: Anti-Violence Crime Cell (AVCC) on Thursday claimed to have killed two kidnappers while recovering an abductee from their custody in an encounter which occurred at Steel Town. According to SSP AVCC Farooq Awan, an industrialist Fawad Mirza was kidnapped on May 6, 2011, when he left his house located at Defence Phase VI for work.
Awan said the AVCC team, headed by SP Farooq Awan, on a tip-off conducted a raid at Pipri Ali Muhammad Goth in Steel Town and recovered Mirza after a brief encounter. They also claimed to have killed both abductors in the operation. The identities of the kidnappers were yet to be ascertained, while police were of the view that both appeared to be of Siraiki descent.
He said that the kidnappers, who used victim’s cell phone to contact his family, demanded Rs 60 million in ransom and confined the abductee at an unknown place. Furthermore, they said that the kidnappers had also agreed at Rs 20 million for his release but before they could receive the payment, police traced them and freed the abductee. Separately, police claimed to have arrested notorious Lyari gangster from Pak Colony recovering arms and ammunition from his possession.
According to police officials, a team headed by SP Naveed Khawaja on a tip-off conducted a raid at Pak Colony and arrested notorious Lyari gangster Faisal alias Chilli and recovered a 12 bore repeater and two grenades from his possession. They said that the accused, who belonged to Mullah Raju group was involved in the Shershah carnage, which left 13 people killed and several others injured.
