Rawalpindi: NH&MP foil terror bid by defusing explosives
Rawalpindi: Officers of National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) N-5 North Zone Karmra sector foiled a terror bid on Wednesday by defusing a 2.5 kg bomb hidden in a container near Aliabad in Beat-2 Hakeemabad area, NH&MP said.
Fazal Ameen, Akram Shah and Jaffer Gul, police officers of Karma sector were on routine patrolling duty; when they reached Aliabad, they observed a 2.5 Kg tin of oil at a U-turn. During checking, the police found explosive materials hidden in the tin. NH&MP officers immediately informed Motorway Police Control Beat-2 Hakeemabad and diverted traffic by using safety cones.
On this information NH&MP Control informed Bomb Disposal Squad, District Police Nowshera and the concerned police station regarding the situation. Police authorities and bomb disposal squad rushed to the scene.
Checking by the bomb disposal squad revealed a 2.5 kg explosive material packed in a tin. The bomb disposal squad defused the bomb well in time with the help of NH&MP officers.
The timely action by the Motorway Police and other agencies saved many precious lives of commuters as well as general public. The locals of the area appreciated the performance of Motorway Police.
DIG NH&MP N-5 North Abbas Hussain Malick highly applauded the courageous action of the officers and Inspector General also appreciated the timely performance of NH&MP officers and gave them commendation certificates and cash reward.
