Rawalpindi: Robbers strike at five places
RAWALPINDI: Robbers struck at five places in the city and looted cash and other valuables, police said on Thursday. Sohail Akhtar was travelling in a car along with his family when two gunmen riding a motorcycle intercepted them and snatched gold ornaments, Rs7,000 cash and a cellphone from his wife.
Qadeer Sharif was returning home with his family when two gunmen intercepted them at Hospital Road in Saddar and snatched Rs8,000 and gold ornaments weighing 20 tola from his wife. The value of the gold ornaments was estimated at Rs900,000.
Four gunmen entered a shop at Misryal Road and held the owner and his staff hostage. The gunmen snatched Rs35,000 cash and 17 cellphones from them and escaped.
Syed Nazir Ahmed, a resident of Officers Colony in Wah Cantonment told the police that two persons riding a car pointed their guns at his wife and snatched gold ornaments from her. Babar Hussain lodged a similar complaint with the Kotli Sattian police stating that he was returning home when two gunmen deprived him of Rs1,300 cash and a cellphone.
