Lahore: Double Shah co-accused remand extended
LAHORE: An accountability court on Friday extended a seven-day physical remand of Zahid Farooq Cheema, an accomplice of Syed Sibtul Hassan Gillani alias Double Shah.
On Friday, the NAB official produced the said accused before the court and sought an extension in his physical remand to carry out further investigation.
The court, while accepting NAB’s plea, extended the remand, directing the NAB to produce him again before the court by May 20.
The NAB Punjab had authorised the investigation against Syed Sibtul Hassan Gillani alias Double Shah and others on the charges of cheating public at large, parallel banking and criminal breach of trust. It revealed during the investigation that accused Zahid Farooq Cheema in connivance, abetment and aiding of his principal accused Syed Sibtul Hassan Gillani, their associates and close relatives lured and invited the investors to deposit money with them on the promise of returning their deposits with unprecedented profit and to double their investments after the expiry of specified period. The accused had also been found involved in receiving the amount in bulk from principal accused Syed Sibtul Hassan Gillani.
