Karachi: 7 killed in violence, mishaps in different incidents
KARACHI: Seven people, including a minor girl, were killed in separate incidents of violence and mishaps in the metropolis on Saturday. A retired Pakistan Navy employee was shot dead at his house in North Karachi within the remits of Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police station. The victim was identified as Asmat Ali, 52, son of Ali Bux, resident of Sector 5-A-3, North Karachi. A gang of unidentified armed men barged into his house and shot him dead on the spot.
The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities. Police officials said that the victim was the father of five children.
Initial interrogation revealed that personal enmity was the motive behind incident. Police said that the victim had a dispute with his relatives and was living separately for three years. No case could be registered till filing the report.
Separately, a man was shot dead near Paracha Chowk, Sher Shah within the limits of Site B police station.
The victim was identified as 40-year-old Naeem, son of Ashraf, resident of Bara Maidan, No 2 Nazimabad. He was going to meet someone near Paracha Chowk when unidentified armed men opened fire on him. Resultantly, he received a bullet injury and was shifted to the ASH in critical condition where he succumbed to the bullet injuries.
DSP Zahid Hussain said that the victim used to supply left over cloth and used to run a cut-piece works in different garment factories. At the time of incident, he went to collect money from his customer. The victim had no affiliation with any political or religious party. Police has initiated a probe into the case.
The body of a man was found in a gunny bag at Nappier area near Old Haji Camp, Timber Market. The victim, who was identified as Arshad, 30 alias Bhoma, son of Abu Talib, was the resident of Mehmoodabad.
Similarly, two more bullet-riddled and tortured bodies of men were found in gunny bags at Ghattar Baghicha, Pak Colony. One of the victims was identified as Azeem, son of Haji Muhammad Khan, a resident of Mehmoodabad, while the identity of other was yet to be ascertained.
Police said the victims Arshad and Azeem, who were kidnapped by Lyari gangsters from Kalri Lyari over the suspicion of being informers of Pakistan Rangers last Friday, were gunned down after a day. They said that both victims, who were relatives and unmarried, were kidnapped from a marriage ceremony of deceased Arshad.
No case was registered till filing of this report.
Yet another bullet-riddled body of a youth was found in a drain at Dhobi Ghath, Pak Colony. The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained, while police found the body from a drain located at Dhobi Ghath, Pak Colony.
Police shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities and later moved it to Edhi Morgue till identification.
