Karachi: 8 accused of Lyari gang released
KARACHI: Eight accused of a Lyari gang, arrested on Saturday after an encounter in which two gangsters lost life and two Rangers personnel sustained bullet injuries, were released here on Sunday, police said.
According to reports, Rangers had conducted the operation in Ath Chowk area of Lyari and arrested some eight accused of Lyari gang after an intense resistance. They had been handed over to Lyari police, which released them Sunday.
Sindh Rangers spokesman captain Bilal said that the detained accused had been handed over to the Lyari police after the registration of an FIR. SP Javaid Baloch said that the accused persons were released on personal bonds as they were not involved in any criminal case.
It is pertinent to mention here that the whole Lyari Town turned paralysed on Saturday after these arrests and the killing of two gangsters, including the brother Shahid Rehman and Shafique alias Polka.
A senior police official deployed in Lyari on condition of anonymity told that operation was conducted to achieve some specific target hiding in Lyari.
