Chakwal: 3 terrorists held, weapons recovered
CHAKWAL: The police claimed to have arrested three terrorists involved in burning 22 Nato oil tankers and killing six police officials near Pindi Ghaib and recovered a huge quantity of weapons from them.
Addressing a press conference at the City police station here on Tuesday, DPO Syed Ali Mohsin said that after terrorism in Pindi Ghaib, six terrorists entered the district and opened firing at Dhoke Pathan police check-post. He said that the police party chased them. “After a five-hour encounter, the terrorists escaped in the jungle, leaving their double-door van. The police also recovered illicit arms from there,” he said, adding that two teams were constituted to arrest the terrorists.
He said that after hectic efforts, the police arrested Ali Imran from Talagang’s Jhatla village and Ehzaz Ahmad and Shujauddin from Dina.
The DPO disclosed that during the preliminary investigations, the terrorists confessed that they had killed several police officials and burnt Nato oil tankers in Sang Jani, Khairabad, Sehala, Tarnoul and Pindi Ghaib during the last three years. He said that terrorists wanted to attack the mosques, imambargahs and churches in future.
He said that the terrorists had confessed to killing four officials and burning a Nato truck in Talagang two years ago. He said that terrorists were educated, trained in North Waziristan and had been committing terrorist activities for the last seven years. The DPO awarded cash prizes to Khalid Shabbir, Muhammad Amir, Muhammad Asif, Qasim Hussain and Munir Hussain of the Elite Force. Meanwhile, an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi has remanded the accused in police custody.
