Karachi: 4 policemen sent to jail till 29th
Karachi: Four policemen from whose custody two under trial prisoners had escaped from the Civil Hospital were sent to jail on Wednesday till May 29.
Sub-Inspector Abdul Hameed, Constable Qazi Kamran, Constable Mohammed Faheem and Constable Moin Ansari were produced in the court of Judicial Magistrte (South) Nadeem Badr Qazi who remanded them to judicial custody till May 29. Head Constable Shamsuddin has gone absconding.
These five policemen were deputed at the jail ward of CHK from where two UTPs Kashif and Alauddin, an activist of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, had escaped on Sunday morning with the help of their accomplices.
According to prosecution, four of the five policemen had reportedly gone for breakfast at about 7 am on Sunday, when the lone policeman on duty was overpowered by the accomplices of the UTPs who managed to take away the two under treatment prisoners.
The four policemen were arrested after a departmental inquiry by the Eidgah police which booked them in FIR No. 147/11 registered under sections 222 (intentional omission to apprehend on the part of public servant bound to apprehend person under sentence or lawfully committed), 225-A (omission to apprehend, or sufferance of escape, on part of public servant, in cases not otherwise provided for), 225-B (resistance or obstruction to lawful apprehension, or escape or rescue in cases not otherwise provided for), 392 (punishment for robbery), 397 (robbery or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) and 337-A (punishment of shajja) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Allaudin is said to be a TTP activist, while Kashif was facing kidnapping for ransom charges. Allaudin was arrested on June 4 last year on the charges of attacking NATO oil tankers and committing robberies for raising funds for his organization.
