Karachi: Bank robbery suspects identified
Karachi: Two of the prosecution witnesses, including a bank security guard, identified two suspects in the Rs 3.3 million bank heist case on Wednesday.
The suspects Waseem alias Wali and Sajjad alias Gul Faraz were produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate Abdul Hafeez Methlo with their heads covered with scarves.
The two suspects along with several dummies were lined up before the magistrate and the witnesses were called in to identify them. Only two witnesses – security guard Imtiaz and Rehmat – appeared in the court and identified Waseem and Sajjad. Their five accomplices were still at large.
According to the prosecution, Waseem alias Wali alias Bani and Sajjad Hazaraywal alias Gul Faraz alias Gul Raaz were arrested from Korangi bus stop, where they had gone to board intercity bus on the next day of incident. They were booked by Korangi Industrial Area police station in FIR No. 472/2011 registered on the complaint of the bank manager under sections 392 (punishment for robbery) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
