Karachi: Cracker attack suspects’ remand extended
Karachi: Judicial Magistrate (West) extended police remand of four suspects belonging to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, including a student of the Karachi University, till May 23.
The Crime Investigation Department had arrested Babar Iqbal alias Bubli, Habib-ur-Rehman and Habibuallah, who were said to be associated with the TTP’S Badar Mansoor Group, for allegedly hurling a cracker at the University campus in December, 2010.
Maaz alias Irfan, a student of Karachi University and affiliated with Imamia Students Organisation was arrested from Pirabad police station area.
All the four were produced in the court of JM Afzal Roshan who extended their remand as requested by the investigation officer for carrying out their further interrogation.
The police claimed to have seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from their possession. The prosecution alleged that the suspects had received training in Waziristan and had been planning to attack government installations and offices of intelligence units.
