MQM worker shot dead in Nazimabad
KARACHI: A Muttahida Qaumi Movement worker was gunned down at a park in a Nazimabad area on Sunday evening, police and party sources said.
The officials added that 38-year-old Iftikhar Husain alias Guddu, son of Zulfiqar Husain Naqvi, was targeted by two men riding a motorcycle.
Nazimabad Station House Officer Tufail Ahmed said that Iftikhar alias Guddu was shot dead shortly after he had completed evening walk at Nazimabad No 2 Model Park.
He said the victim was rushed to the nearby Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Hospital sources said that the victim had suffered bullet wounds in the chest, abdomen and neck. A large number of MQM workers and friends reached the hospital after learning about the killing.
The party said that he was the joint in charge of the Nazimabad Unit 188. Following the killing, tension gripped Nazimabad and adjoining localities where business activities were closed down.
