5 IUB students injured by traders over trifle
BAHAWALPUR: Five students of Islamia University Bahawalpur College of Engineering were allegedly shot injured by the traders of Shahi Bazaar over a trifle on Wednesday night.
Students, including Muhammad Azam, Zulfiqar Ali, Usman Bajwa and Shahzad Fahd, went to Shahi Bazaar to purchase some hosiery items. Shopkeepers opened fire at students after a row over a trifle. As a result, five students were injured and they were rushed to Bahawal Victoria Hospital for treatment. The condition of one of the injured is stated to be critical. After the incident, hundreds of students staged a demonstration outside BVH Emergency Ward and blocked traffic on Circular Road. Later, the students ended their protest after the Kotwali police arrested an assailant, Sajid alias Sajji, and registered a case against him and his accomplices.
