Bara: FC soldier freed after paying ransom
BARA: A sepoy of the Frontier Constabulary was released after paying Rs0.5 million to militants through a tribal jirga in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency, official sources said on Friday. The sources said that Mumtaz, a Sepoy of the FC, was kidnapped on Thursday by militants from his house in Sepah area, the native place of the chief of banned Lashkar-e-Islam militant group Mangal Bagh.
The sources said that a tribal jirga negotiated with the militants to ensure safe recovery of Mumtaz. The militants first demanded Rs2 million as ransom but finally agreed to release him after payment of Rs0.5 million, the sources revealed. They said that the militants also asked Mumtaz to quit the FC.
