Karachi: JSQM activist among four killed
Karachi: Four people, including an activist of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mohaz (JSQM), were killed in separate incidents reported in the city on Sunday. Sultan Ali Magsi, 32, was shot dead, while four, including a minor boy, were injured in an armed attack in Sachal police limits. Police said that on Sunday afternoon Sultan Magsi, along with his friends, was sitting in Bhattiabad area near Nawaz Sharif Housing Scehme.
Four armed men riding two motorcycles came and opened indiscriminate fire injuring Sultan Ali Magsi, Liaquat, Shaukat and a passer-by, Ibrar, 7, and fled.
The people were immediately rushed to the hospital where Sultan Ali Magsi succumbed to his injuries. The others sustained grievous injuries.
They added that the deceased had received multiple bullet wounds on various parts of his body. The deceased was the resident of the same area and an activist of JSQM. Afterwards tension gripped the area where armed men resorted to aerial firing and forced closure of shops. The residents and supporters also came on to the road pelting passing vehicles with stones.
Moreover, contingents of police and Rangers also reached the place and after a resistance of hours brought under control the situation. A case was registered at the police station.
In a separate case Liaquat Ali, alias Bikik, was shot dead in Super Market police limits. The incident occurred late Saturday night in C-1 Area, Liaquatabad.
Police said that armed motorcycle riders opened fire on Bikek shot and killed Bikik and fled. The deceased was a known drug peddler and was twice arrested by the police in drug pushing cases.
He was presently on bail. He was a resident of Haji Mureed Goth, Gulbahar Colony, and it seems that he was killed upon some enmity.
In yet another case, Saadullah Khan was shot dead in Saeedabad police limits. Police said that the incident happened on late Saturday night in a barber shop in Ittehad Town.
They added that deceased Khan was the resident of Gali-9, Ittehad Town, and had come to the barber shop for cutting situated a few distance away from his house. During his presence at the shop two armed bandits broke into the shop and started looting.
In the meantime, Saadullah Khan resisted the dacoits who opened fire shot and killed him. Later they fled. The deceased was married and hailed from Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa. A case was reported at the police station.
Meanwhile, Saleem Ahmed was killed in Korangi area. Police said that deceased Ahmed was the resident of Kashmir Colony, Landhi, a rickshaw driver.
On Saturday night he was visiting his in-laws in Zia Colony, to settle a family dispute. Reaching his in-laws house armed men opened fire shot and killed Ahmed and fled. A case was reported and investigation is under way.
