Lahore: Police kill two ‘POs in encounter’
LAHORE: Two more proclaimed offenders were killed in a ‘staged encounter’ in the Misri Shah Police limits here on Monday. Lahore Police now have adopted a new pattern to kill the accused criminals in ‘staged encounters’ by first letting them flee on motorbikes to make the encounters look real. Few days back, two persons were killed near Lakho Der in the Baghbanpura Police limits on the same pattern.
Since Malik Ahmad Raza Tahir assumed the charge as the CCPO, Lahore, around six accused had been killed in ‘encounters’. It is worth mentioning here that in three police encounters, not a single police official sustained even a minor injury which shows that Lahore Police have become expert in shooting down criminals in ‘encounters’.
The sources in Lahore Police have alleged that the two proclaimed offenders were in custody and they have been killed in a staged encounter. However, the Lahore CCPO, instead of denying that the two were killed in a staged encounter, claimed that those killed were hardened criminals and they had killed a number of people, including a lawyer.
According to an official handout released by the CCPO, the killed proclaimed offenders were involved in murder, robbery and other heinous crimes and police had recovered a 9-MM pistol, a 30-bore pistol and five live bullets from their custody on Monday morning.
According to Misri Shah Police, the two accused were identified as Amin alias Meena, a resident of Raja-Jang, Kasur, and Aadil, a resident of Ittehad Colony, Ghalib Market, Lahore. They said the accused were fleeing after snatched a motorbike (LRK-8613) of one Safdar Iqbal. Following a Rescue 15 call made by the victim Safdar, Misri Shah Police reached the spot and started chasing the accused.
The police team, headed by SHO Misri Shah, intercepted the accused on Victoria Road but they did not stop and opened indiscriminate fire on police.
The police party retaliated which led to the encounter. As the firing stopped, police found both the accused dead.
