8 killed in violence, mishaps in metropolis
KARACHI: Eight people were killed in separate incidents of target killing and mishaps here at several areas of the metropolis on Tuesday. Two gunny-bagged bodies of youths were found near Mehfooz Sheermal, Nayaabad within the remits of Kalri police station. The identities of victims are yet to be ascertained.
Locals informed police about the presence of two suspicious gunny bags at street No 2 near Khulfa-e-Rashideen mosque. SP Lyari Javed Baloch said unidentified culprits kidnapped the victims from an unknown place and disposed of their bodies after murder.
Both victims had several torture marks and donned trousers and shirt. The bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities and later to the Edhi Morgue for identification.
Officer suspected that the murders might have been an outcome of Lyari gang war. Police have registered FIR (136/11) against unidentified men on the complaint of State and initiated the probe.
Separately, a teenager was victimised by a stray bullet near Khadda Market, Lyari within the precincts of Baghdadi police station.
The identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained. He was standing at Shah Waliullah Road when a stray bullet entered his head killing him on the spot.
SP Javed Baloch said unidentified armed men were firing in Baghdadi and its adjacent areas when one stray bullet hit the teenager. The body was shifted to CHK and later moved to the Edhi Morgue for identification.
In another incident, a young man was shot dead near Jodia Bazaar, Phool Patti Street within the limits of Kharadar police station. The identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained.
According to police, unidentified armed men threw him in critical condition at Jodia Bazaar and fled from the scene. Police shifted the victim to CHK where he succumbed to his injuries. Police official said that the victim who had received two bullets donned trouser and shirt and appeared to be Urdu speaking. Police have registered FIR (222/11) against unidentified men on the complaint of State while further investigation is underway.
In yet another incident, police found a two-day old torture-marked body from the bushes in Site area within the jurisdiction of Site B police station. The identity of the victim is also yet to be ascertained. Police found his body from bushes situated near a private car Manufacture Company.
DSP Zahid Hussain said that the victim had some torture marks and unidentified culprits disposed of his body after kidnapping from an unknown place. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy and later moved to the Edhi Morgue for identification.
Meanwhile, a strangulated body was found from Nullah in Old Golimar within the limits of Pak Colony police station. The identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained. Police official informed that the victim was choked to death and had several torture marks. The body was shifted to ASH for post-mortem and later moved to the Edhi Morgue for identification.
In an incident of target killing, a man was shot dead near his house in sheet No 12, Model Colony within the jurisdiction of Model Colony police station. The victim, 60-year-old Mohammad Kamal, son of Naseem, was standing near Mehran Palace when unidentified armed men targeted him. He died on the spot and the body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities.
Police official said that the victim was brother of an advocate and resident of the same area. Police have initially established that he was killed for resisting a robbery bid. No case could be registered till filing of this report.
In a road accident, a man was crushed to death in Baldia No 4 within the jurisdiction of Saeedabad police station. The victim, 32-year-old Imran, son of Abdul Rasheed, was a resident of Chakiwara. He was going home on his motorcycle when a speeding truck knocked him. Resultantly, he died on the spot. The body was shifted to CHK and later handed over to the heirs.
