Rawalpindi: PIA hostess arrested, 2.5kg heroin recovered
RAWALPINDI, June 2: An airhostess of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) was off-loaded from a Karachi-bound flight after the Airport Security Force (ASF) recovered 2.5kg heroin from her suitcase at the security check-in counter of Benazir Bhutto International Airport on Thursday night, the sources said.
The source said that the seizure was made when the check-in of PIA flight for Karachi (PK-319) was in progress as the ASF staff got suspicious when the loader put her extra large size suitcase on the scanning machine that sounded an alert.
The airhostess was asked to open the suitcase and the ASF officials searched it twice which led to the recovery of 2.5kg heroin packed in 12 packets which were skillfully concealed in the suitcase.
The airhostess however denied that it was her suitcase and even her husband, who is a steward in the PIA and was about to leave for Saudi Arabia in another flight, tried to rescue his wife but she was handed over to the ANF staff for further investigations.
