ISLAMABAD: A factory producing spurious mineral water and juices was unearthed during a raid in capital’s rural area and two persons were arrested, police said on Friday. However, the owners of the factory managed to escape from the scene.
The police sources said that a customer lodged a complaint with the food controller of the capital administration that he had found a housefly in a juice bottle which he purchased from a local shop on Thursday. While acting on the complaint, the food inspector came to the shop and inquired about the juice and its manufacturer. The shopkeeper gave a lead to the factory making spurious juices and mineral water.
The food inspector along with the area magistrate and police team of Koral police station raided the factory located in the area of Paracha Chowk, Tarlai and found 260 cartons of juices and 47 cartons of mineral water. Two workers of the factory were also taken into custody during the raid.
