Nawabshah: MQM activists among 200 booked over torching of vehicles
NAWABSHAH: Police on Wednesday booked more than 200 people including workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement on charges of setting ablaze vehicles.
Salar Chandio, driver of a local politician Zafar Jamali stated at the Airport police station that he was returning to Gharibabad when hundreds of armed men opened fire on his vehicle at Kohat Badshah Dargah, snatched his licensed rifle and cash and later set ablaze his vehicle, a Toyota double cabin.
Police booked Dr Bilal, Imran, Abdul Ghaffar, Rashid Qureshi, Malik Iqbal, Shamsullah, Imran Qureshi, Babu Sanata, Hafeez Qureshi, Malik Saleem Shahzad, Raees Ahmad, Shahid, Taj Mohammed and others under the FIR.
The accused included an office-bearer and workers of MQM. The dispute started when an MQM activist Shoukat Qureshi was injured when he was fired upon by members of Brohi tribe after a scuffle during a cricket match on May 31.
An FIR was lodged at the Airport police station against Imdad Brohi and two unidentified people but the dispute was later settled privately and a fine was imposed on Brohis and they were asked tender and apology.
But before the dispute could died down once and for all, it reignited again on Saturday when unidentified armed men opened fire in the area killing a supporter of MQM and injuring Ms Tasleem, Ms Fakhrunnisa and Ayoub Qureshi.
An FIR was lodged at the Airport police station on a complaint lodged by brother of the deceased against five persons, Irfan Rind, Ali Khan, Ahmed Khan Rind, Qurban Mangi and Rab Nawaz Zardari.
