Police sent to Karachi to arrest Attiqa Odho
RAWALPINDI: A Police team was sent to Karachi for arresting TV actress and Vice President of the All Pakistan Muslim League Attiqa Odho after registering a case at the Airport Police Station on the direction of Supreme Court.
According to details, Airport Security Force personnel had recovered foreign brand two bottles of liquor from the luggage of Attiqa Odho on June 5, 2011, who was traveling from Islamabad to Karachi. She was detained for sometime and later allowed to proceed on board Karachi-bound flight after phone calls by influential people.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry taking a suo moto notice of the incident had sought explanation from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman over Attiqa Odho’s release without taking any legal action against her.
The FBR chairman told the court that case could not be registered against Attiqa because value of the liquor recovered from her possession was less than rupees three lakh. During hearing of the case on Wednesday, the court directed the authority concerned for registering case against Attiqa Odho.
On complaint of Assistant Collector Customs, Sehar Rafique, the Airport Police Station registered the case of liquor recovery against Attiqa Odho. Meanwhile, according to sources, Attiqa Odho has left for some foreign country to avoid arrest. The sources said she has also obtained bail before arrest.
