Islamabad: Man killed over family dispute
ISLAMABAD: A man was killed and four others injured as two groups exchanged fire over a family dispute in the capital’s suburb on Thursday night, police said. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Yaqoob, 50. Mohammad Abrar told police that his father went to the house of his elder brother’s wife to bring her back. She had left after a quarrel with her husband. But during talks, he said, another quarrel broke out and Yaqoob left without his daughter-in-law. Ibrar said afterwards the in-laws of his brother attacked their home in Dhoke Taman, adding that his father died after he was shot three times.
On other hand, police said Yaqoob’s daughter-in-law left her husband house some weeks ago after the quarrel. On Thursday night she was intercepted by her husband in the street and they had a shouting match. Afterwards, her brother thrashed her husband badly, according to police.
This led to both the families’ men coming out with their weapons and exchanging fire. Yaqoob died on the spot as four others were taken to Pims and Polyclinic hospitals with bullet wounds.
