3 soldiers killed in S Waziristan
PESHAWAR: Four persons, three of them Pakistan Army soldiers, were killed and some others injured in various incidents of violence in South Waziristan and Orakzai tribal regions. In Kurram tribal region, three Nato fighter jets intruded Pakistani airspace and flew for 30 minutes over various villages of the tribal region
Sources said three soldiers were killed when militants reportedly blew up their vehicle in the Ladha area of South Waziristan. Four other soldiers suffered injuries and were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan.
In another incident, militants attacked a military vehicle in the Chapri area near Ferozkhel of Upper Orakzai tribal region, injuring one soldier. After the incident security forces held siege of the area and started a search operation. They took three persons into custody and shifted them to an unknown location.
In Lower Orakzai, unidentified persons attacked a passenger van with a roadside explosive device, killing one passengers identified as Ansar Ali. Five other passengers identified as Janan Ali, Ameen Hasan, Shahid Ali, Mohammad Nazeer and Nawab Ali, suffered injuries.
In Kurram tribal region, three Nato fighter jets intruded Pakistanís airspace and flew for 30 minutes over various villages of the tribal region. Sources said the planes later went back towards Afghanistan while flying over Kharlachi area near the Afghan border.
Also, suspected militants attacked the heavily guarded army camp in Miranshah and Razmak in North Waziristan on Sunday night. Sources said the militants fired five rockets at the army camp in Miranshah but the blasts did not cause any loss of life or damage to property.
In Razmak, officials said, suspected militants from the nearby mountains Sunday night fired six rockets, which landed inside the military camp. The officials, however, said there was no loss of life or damage to property in the rocket attack.
