Karachi: Another civilian held in Sarfaraz Shah case
KARACHI: Investigators conducting a probe into Sarfaraz Shah killing case have arrested another civilian suspect allegedly involved in the incident. Sources informed Daily Times that accused Alam Zaib had been nominated in an FIR (227/11), registered at Boat Basin police station. The complainant had nominated eight suspects, including six Rangers men and two civilians, in the case.
The six Rangers personnel and one civilian, Afsar Khan, had already been arrested, while the last suspect Zaib was also arrested on Friday night. The sources further said that the investigators had detained Zaib’s girl friend for questioning. It is pertinent to mention here that other civilian accused in the case, Afsar Khan, had recorded a statement to the police in which he claimed that Sarfaraz was trying to rob Zaib and his family inside the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park. Sources, however, said that suspect Zaib in his recorded statement had claimed that the victim was not trying to rob him and his family and that Khan had registered a fake case against the victim. It was further informed that Zaib along with his girl friend had been shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning.
