Karachi: 5 killed, eight injured in separate incidents in city
KARACHI: Five people were killed and eight others injured in separate incidents in different areas of the city on Sunday. An irate man opened fire in a street, killing an elderly person and injuring around eight others before shooting himself to death in Rangiwara within the limits of Chakiwara police station, Lyari.
Police officials said Chand Zaib, 35, affiliated with a Lyari gangster group, consumed drugs, came outside his house and opened fire with a Kalashnikov, resultantly eight people were injured. The man later shot himself to death, said the police officials quoting witnesses.
Injured Yasir Akhter, 23, Imam Bakhsh, 70, Abdul Majeed, 50, Mohammad Nazar, 40, Majid Rahim, 30, Ghulam Rasool, 25, Rafaqat, 34 and Gulzar, 32 were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), where Bakhsh succumbed to his injuries. No case was registered till filing this report.
In a cruel incident, a man slaughtered her wife in Junejo Town in the remits of Baloch Colony police station. Police said that the incident occurred at Shumaila Garden in Junejo Town, where victim’s brother came to meet his sister. He knocked the door of his sister’s house several times but it didn’t open. Later he entered the house by breaking the door and found his sister, Nasreen, 35, wife of Muhammad Ali, dead on the floor.
After getting the report, police rushed to the scene and moved the body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy.
SHO Imtiaz Niazi said the couple married 12 years ago and hailed form south Punjab. He said the couple had no child, so Nasreen adopted her brother’s son Ghafoor but her husband was unhappy over it and suggested her to return the boy to his parent. The body was handed over to heirs after completing all legal formalities from a hospital. No case was registered till filling this report.
In another incident, a security guard was killed and another injured when a repeater gun went off near Gole Market in Nazimabad. Police officials said the two security guards Iqbal, 32, and Afaq, 55, were on duty when the repeater gun of one guard went off accidentally. Both suffered injuries and were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Iqbal succumbed to his injuries. The deceased hailed from Punjab.
Meanwhile, a young man drowned while bathing at Sandspit beach within the limits of Docks police station. Naseer Ahmed, 28, resident of New Karachi, was bathing at the Sandspit beach when he drowned into deep seawater. The rescue teams recovered the body and shifted it to the CHK.
