PESHAWAR: Unidentified militants blew up an electric tower of Tarbela-Peshawar transmission line of 500 KV, which plunged Peshawar and adjoining areas into darkness on Sunday. The police said on Sunday that a bomb was planted at 265 tower, Taru Jabba in Nowshera district and was detonated with a remote control device. The blast partially disrupted power supply to Peshawar and the adjoining areas.
The PESCO spokesman said low voltage and load shedding in Peshawar and adjoining area was due to destruction of the tower for which the company highly regrets with the consumers. He said work on rehabilitation of the tower has been started and would soon be made functional.
