Karachi: ‘Bandit’ killed in shootout
Karachi: A suspected bandit was gunned down in a shootout with police in Memon Goth, officials said. The Memon Goth SHO said that investigators in plain clothes had been deputed in Sumar Khandhani Goth following the growing number of complaints of armed robberies in the area. “Recently, we received a complaint about mugging on the main road close to Cheeku Farmhouse, which is visited by families almost daily in the summer,” said Inspector Rao Khalid.
“Today, shortly after a robbery, the policemen deputed in the area spotted three suspicious-looking men on a motorbike and challenged them. As the police chased them, the riders fired at the police in an attempt to escape and an exchange of fire ensued.”
The inspector said the firing left one of the bandits dead, later identified as Aman Dada and an area resident, while his accomplices escaped. He said the police seized an SMG found in the possession of the suspect.
