Rawalpindi: Marriage dispute claims life of two sisters, other injured
RAWALPINDI: Two sisters were killed and another one was injured in a firing incident when an accused (Asad) opened indiscriminate firing at a girls hostel here on Monday and managed to escape from the scene. Civil Line Police Station House Officer (SHO) Malik Sajid giving details of the gruesome incident said that firing incident took place at Noor Girls Hostel located in Lal Kurti, where a number of girls were residing.
He said that accused Asad fired at the sisters and fled from the scene. In the incident, Saima and Saira died on the spot from the bullet wounds while Sobia sustained multiple bullet injuries. The three sisters were belonged to Jund area of District Attock.
Civil Line SHO termed the incident a marriage dispute stating that a case has been registered against the accused and investigation is underway. The injured girl was later shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital where she was described in stable condition.
The SHO said that the accused Asad wanted to marry one of three victim sisters. The Investigation Officer (IO) of the case Sub Inspector (SI) Mian Imran told this scribe that police registered the First Information Report (FIR) of the case on the complaint of the deceased girls’ mother.
The victim girls’ mother said that the accused Asad Ali had intended to marry her daughter Saira Naz but they had refused to wed their daughter with Asad. Therefore, Asad killed her two daughters and injured the third one in firing.
The IO said that police have traced the house of the accused located in Mohan Pura and conducted raid at his house but no one was found as the house was locked.
He said that the police would soon arrest the culprit and are conducting raid for the arrest of the culprit. The incident created panic among the residents of the area who demanded of the authorities to pay heed towards the security situation and arrest the culprit.
