Islamabad: Police stash away 22 kg of 40 kg hashish
ISLAMABAD: Sabzi Mandi police recovered 40 kilograms of hashish and arrested three persons including two females but after alleged bargain released the male and registered a case showing only 18 kg of hashish seizure, Daily Times learnt on Thursday.
SSP Tahir Alam Khan’s office issued a press release stating that three kg of hashish were recovered from both the women, but when after getting information about the actual seizure this scribe contacted police high-ups they decided to show 18 kg of hashish seizure.
According to reliable sources, Sabzi Mandi Police on Wednesday signaled to stop a van in sector I-11 near Afghan Basti and Metro. Two females and a male were in the van. During search police recovered 40 kilograms of hashish and arrested the accused, but the van driver started bargaining with the police and the matter prolonged. High-ups of the police station concerned also got involved in the negotiations. Later police released the man and registered an FIR vide 297 against Amina wife of Misal Khan and Shehnaz wife of Shah Wali residents of Matni, Peshawar.
A police official on condition of anonymity told this scribe that it was a routine whenever police officials recover drugs from any vehicle they start bargaining with the drug-traffickers. He said if the officials didn’t get the desired money they make a deal with them to release someone of them for arranging the bail of arrested people and show reduced quantity of the actual seizure in the FIR.
He said same thing happened in the limits of Sabzi Mandi Police Station, as bargaining continued for hours and in the end it was decided to release the male and 37 kilograms of hashish from the actual seizure was stashed away. Sabzi Mandi police station duty officer Fateh Shir denied that 40 kilograms of hashish was seized. He said only two females were arrested and the place of their arrest was Islamabad Toll Plaza. According to sources, some officials of federal police are involved in drug smuggling.
