Karachi: Court orders stoppage of salaries of nine cops
Karachi: The court summoned nine police personnel to appear for their negligence in duty through Jail Superintendent on June 28. Judicial Magistrate, South, Hatim Aziz Solangi also ordered stoppage of salaries of these personnel for violating court orders and also asked the concerned police stations to take disciplinary actions against them.
Public Prosecutor Syed Shamim Ahmed on Thursday informed the court that head constable Junaid Ahmed, police constable Mohamed Asif, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Aziz Hussain of Mehmoodabad police station were not appearing in the court for the last one year to record evidence against Adnan who was charged with possessing weapons since last one year.
Similarly in another case too, police constable Qalander Bux of Clifton Police station, Assistant Sub-Inspector Mujahid Iqbal of Gizri police station, ASI Shabbir Ahmed, HC Mohammed Hanif and PC Ghulam Shabbir Ahmed of the same police station were also not appearing as prosecution witnesses in a robbery case against Habibullah due to which trial was pending since last one year, District Public Prosecutor Shamim Ahmed told the court.
The court hearing the plea of the DPP issued orders through Jail Superintendent to stop salaries of these police personnel who were also violating court orders. The notices were issued to all the nine policemen to appear in the court for evidence but despite repeated notices they failed to appear which infuriated the judge who also asked the police authorities concerned to stop their salaries and strict disciplinary action should be taken against them.
