Taxila: Gang of robbers busted
TAXILA: A gang of robbers involved in various robberies including at the CSD outlet was busted by the Wah Cantonment police on Thursday. The gang allegedly looted Rs1.20 million from the Canteen Store Department (CSD) outlet located at Liaq Chowk, Wah Cantt in March this year. The staff members of the outlet were also injured by the dacoits.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Sub Divisional Police Officer DSP Raja Taifoor Akhter said that the gang comprising seven outlaws also looted a doctor’s house. He said that after four months hectic efforts, police succeeded in tracing and nabbing the gang leader Mohammad Rashid from Saleemnagar locality which led to the arrest of six other members identified as Farman Ellahi, his brother Mohammad Riasat, Aabid Hussain, Mohammad Shahfeeq and Mohammad Shamsher.
He said that a culprit was still at large and would be arrested soon as raids were being carried out to arrest him. He said that police also made headway in tracing the culprits involved in street crimes in the area and in this connection major breakthrough was expected soon.
