Karachi: Gangsters kill man during wife’s funeral
Karachi: A man was killed and three others, including his minor son, received bullet wounds on Friday when Lyari gangsters opened fire on them while they were attending the funeral of his wife, who was shot dead on Thursday — allegedly by the same attackers. The incident took place in the Saeedabad police limits.
Barket Ali, 25, died on the spot, and his five-year-old son, Umair Ali, and two other injured, Faqeer Qurashi and Sikander, were shifted to the Civil Hospital. After the incident, the attackers fled the scene.
According to the police, the gangsters had attacked Barket’s residence on Thursday, leaving him injured and his wife, Firzana, dead. The police say Barkat was suspected to be a drug peddler.
‘Bandit’ killed in police encounter: A suspected bandit was killed and another was arrested in an encounter with the Aziz Bhatti police on Friday.
Police said that three armed men tried to snatch Khalid Mehmood Siddqui’s motorcycle in the Hassan Square area. The armed men, who were riding a motorbike, ordered him on gunpoint to hand them over his mobile phone and cash.
However, a mobile van of the Aziz Bhatti police reached the spot and upon seeing which the armed men opened fire in an attempt to escape. The police fired in retaliation and an unidentified bandit, said died.
