Karachi: Banned SSP activist among nine killed in separate incidents

KARACHI: Nine people, including an activist of banned outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP), were killed in separate incidents of violence and mishaps in different parts of the metropolis on Monday.

An activist of outlawed SSP was gunned down at Do Minute Chowrangi in the remits of Bilal Colony police station. Police said Kashif Wakeel, 24, was shot dead by unidentified armed men while on his way to home after closing his shop. The victim was affiliated with Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ), formerly known as SSP. A police official said it was a target-killing incident.

 

Separately, police found body of a man and a wounded businessman from a car (ARB-046) near Federal Urdu University, within in the limits of Aziz Bhatti police station. Police said the victim was identified as Ali Nawaz, 30, and injured as Dhanno. Police said they reached Karachi from Badin and came to Sunday Bazaar to buy a car from where unknown armed men kidnapped them and later shot dead Nawaz and wounded Dhanno. Culprits looted valuables and cash from them and threw the body and wounded at the said place. No case was registered till filing the report.

 

In another incident, a man was shot dead within the limits of Korangi Industrial Area police station. A lady doctor Shahnaz found a man Sajjad in injured condition and shifted him to a nearest hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. SHO Abid Tanoli said the victim was the resident of Sharafi Goth and according to eyewitnesses, unidentified armed men opened fire on him from a car and fled. The victim has a criminal record and police believed that his accomplices might have killed him over distribution of any looted money. Police shifted the body to the JPMC for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to his family. No case was registered till filing the report.

 

In yet another incident, a man was shot dead in Aligarh Society near Wazeer Goth in the jurisdiction of Sohrab Goth police station. Farzand Ali, 50, resident of New Karachi, Sector 11-G, was going home on his motorcycle when unidentified armed men shot him dead. Police shifted the body to the ASH for an autopsy.

 

DSP Iftikhar Lodhi said the victim had some dispute over a plot in Wazeer Goth, Sohrab Goth Industrial Area and land mafia might be involved in his murder. The victim hailed from Punjab. No case was registered till filing the report.

 

Meanwhile, police found the body of a man from a factory within the limits of Mochko police station. The body was found from a factory located at Block A, Muhammad Khan Colony. The victim was identified as Bashir Noor, 32. Police said that Noor used to live at the factory with his nephew Jabbar who was missing. The police suspected that his nephew might have killed Noor over some dispute.

 



Suicide: A cleric committed suicide within the premises of Jamia Binoria Site. DSP Zahid Hussain said Sajid Ali Siddique, resident of Orangi Town, reached Jamia Binoria Site for Fatwa where he got irate and shot himself to death. The victim was the cleric of a mosque located in Orangi Town. The body was handed over to his family after an autopsy.

 

The officer further said Siddique had also performed duty at Jamia Binoria some months ago but Binoria organisation had terminated his service due to some fraud in accounts, however, he wanted to rejoin the duty.

 

Road accident: Two people, including a woman, were crushed to death by a vehicle at Naval Colony within the remits of Saeedabad police station. Zeeshan Masih, 18, was going on his motorcycle with his relative Seema Masih, 40, when a speeding truck (PTR-0159) knocked them, resultantly Zeeshan died on the spot while Seema received injuries.

 

Police shifted them to the Civil Hospital Karachi where the woman succumbed to his injuries. Police arrested the responsible driver Yasir. Police officials said both victims were the resident of Naval Colony. Police have registered a case against driver and initiated a probe into the case.

 

A labour died after falling from an under construction building withi the limits of Frere police station. Khan Mohammad, resident of Hijrat Colony, was working on the 9th floor of an under construction building near DO Talwar when he slipped, fell on the ground and died on the spot. The body was shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities.
