Karachi: 4 killed in separate incidents
KARACHI: Four people were killed in separate incidents of violence and mishaps in different parts of metropolis on Thursday. A retired army man was shot dead in Muzafarabad Colony, Landhi, within the limits of Quaidabad police station.
Haider Khan Mehsud, 50, son of Mehar Khan Mehsud, a resident of Sohrab Goth, was standing outside his brother’s home in Muzafarabad Colony when some unidentified armed men appeared and opened fire on him, resultantly he received one bullet in his head and died on the spot. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal formalities.
Station House Officer (SHO) Sajjad Haider said the victim was a retired army man and had served in the Frontier Constabulary for 15 years, adding that police believed personal enmity was the motive behind the killing.
The victim hailed from Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa. Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) No 285/11 against unidentified men on the complaint of victim’s brother Dilawar and initiated an investigation.
Separately, police found the slaughtered body of a girl from an empty house in Faizullah Goth in the limits of Mochko police station. The identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained. Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
SHO Nasir Mahmood said the victim appeared to be around 25-year-old. The victim appeared to be a Pakhtoon and might have been killed in the name of honour, police said. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for postmortem and later moved to Edhi Morgue. Police have registered a case against unidentified men on the complaint of state and further investigation was underway.
In another incident, a man was shot dead near Lal Flats, Gulistan-e-Jauhar in the jurisdiction of Shahrah-e-Faisal police station. The 35-year-old victim, Ashraf, son of Musafir Khan, was the resident of Hussain Hazara Goth, Gulistan-e-Jauhar. After Asr prayers, the victim was standing on his Pan cabin situated in front of Medina Blessing, when one armed man on motorcycle appeared and opened fire on him, resultantly he received bullet injuries and died after a few moments. The body was shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities.
Deputy Superintendant Police Ramzan Gopang said the victim used to run a Pan and cigarette cabin and personal enmity might have been the motive behind the incident, because he had no affiliation with any political or religious party. No case was registered till filing of this report.
A girl took poisonous substance at her house at Manzoor Colony in the limits of Baloch Colony police station. According to police, 18-year-old Amber was a resident of Manzoor Colony and that she killed herself by drinking toxic syrup. Police said the victim lost her life during treatment at a hospital.
Police found a suicide note from her possession, which held her father responsible for her death. Police said earlier her sister had also committed suicide in 2010. A case has been registered and further investigation was underway.
