Lahore: 36 POs held in search operation
LAHORE: Following the terrorism threat in the City, Lahore police launched a search operation against criminals on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
During the crackdown, police have arrested 36 proclaimed offenders, including two top ten criminals, 47 court absconders and 15 target offenders. This was claimed by DIG Operations Ghulam Mahmood Dogar in a press conference held at the office of Iqbal Town SP on Friday.
He said eight proclaimed offenders were arrested from City division, four from Cantt division, 10 from Civil Lines division, two from Saddar division, four from Iqbal Town and six from Model Town division.
Four court absconders were held by City division police, three by Cantt division, 17 by Civil Lines division, six by Saddar Division, three by Iqbal Town division and eight by Model Town division.
Two target offenders were arrested from City division police, seven from Civil Lines division and six from Iqbal Town division.
Police have also registered 41 cases of illicit arms and seized eight rifles, 22 pistols, 16 mousers, one carbine and 936 bullets.
Meanwhile, 49 cases were registered against 53 arrested drugs pushers. Police seized 11 kg charas, one kg heroin and 613 bottles of liquor.
Police have also registered 38 cases against 93 arrested gamblers and seized Rs 0.3 million stake money besides impounding 22 motorbikes and six cars. Iqbal Town police have arrested 18 members of six dacoits’ gangs and recovered loot.
