2 cops suspended in Dera Ismail Khan
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two cops were suspended for manhandling an employee of the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) here Saturday, official sources said. The sources said that Kalimullah, a tube-well operator in Tehsil Municipal Administration, was allegedly manhandled by two cops of Elite Force, Muhammad Zafar and Muhammad Salim.
Taking serious note of the incident, Deputy Inspector General of Police Syed Imtiaz Shah suspended them and initiated departmental inquiry against them.
Lawyers want FIR reviewed: The lawyers here Saturday staged protest against the police for lodging a first information report (FIR) under inappropriate clauses against four cops earlier suspended for manhandling a senior lawyer.
The lawyers and all members of the district bar association led by their president Muhammad Shahab Khan staged protest outside the Dera Press Club for sometime.
Speaking on the occasion, Haroon Awan, Salim Jan and Muhammad Shahab Khan said that despite the directives of the district and sessions judge, the police did not review and correct the FIR against the four cops who had manhandled senior lawyer Zahid Mohibullah. They alleged that the police were protecting their fellow cops.
A delegation of the bar also called on DIG Police Syed Imtiaz Shah and the latter assured to rectify the clauses and sections mentioned in the FIR.
