Lahore: 5 car lifters arrested, 10 cars recovered
LAHORE: A joint investigation team of the Civil Lines and City Division police has arrested five members of Muna and Moon car lifter gangs and recovered 10 cars, three Suzuki vans and other valuables from their possession. According to an official handout, on the directive of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir, DIG (Investigations) Malik Ali Amir and SSP (Investigation) Abdul Razaq Cheema directed Civil Lines SP (Investigations) Captain (r) Liaqat Ali Malik and SP (Investigations) City Division Ahmad Nawaz Cheema to take measures against car lifter gangs.
A special team was constituted under the supervision of Old Anarkali DSP and Shahdara Town investigation incharge, leading to the arrest of five suspected car lifters. The accused have confessed to 19 incidents of car lifting during investigation. The arrested are identified as ringleader Zafar Mehmood alias Muna, Muhammad Arshad, Moon, Akram and Tariq. Further investigation is in progress. The CCPO has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the police teams.
