Lahore: Robbers kill four, injure 18 in June
LAHORE: Robbers shot dead four persons, including a woman, and injured 18 others on resistance during robbery bids as they deprived over 720 citizens of cash, valuables, gold ornaments, ,mobile phones, cars and motorcycles worth millions of rupees in six divisions of Lahore Police during the month of June.
If the month of June is compared to the month of May regarding the crime against property, during the latter, two citizens were shot dead in reported incidents of dacoity-cum-murder. However, robbers had shot injured 27 Lahorites on resistance in May and looted over 900 others.
It is also pertinent to note that in the month of May, 2011, around 132 motorcycles and around 100 cars had been taken away. While out of the total reported incidents in June, around 87 motorcycles and 79 cars were taken away from six divisions of Lahore Police.
On June 1, 2011, one Mohammad Saleem Raza was shot dead by armed dacoits on resistance near Bhatta Chowk in the South Cantt police limits. Police registered a case under section 392 and 302 of PPC against two unidentified dacoits but failed to find any clue even after lapse of one month.
On June 9, a student of A levels was shot dead by robbers on resistance during a robbery bid at Wapda Town in the Sattukatla police limits. The deceased was identified as Hassaan, 18, a resident of House # 318, E-I Block. A case was registered against five accused, including two nominated persons, identified as a housemaid, Yasmin, and her husband Mukhtar. The prime accused Yasmin and Arshad alias Achhi, who had shot the victim, have been arrested while three other accused are still at large.
On June 13, a woman, named Azra, 50, wife of Sadiq, was shot dead during dacoity bid when she offered resistance in her house in Samanabad police limits. Interestingly, police registered a murder case instead of a dacoity-cum-murder case against the accused but failed to arrest them.
On June 26, Mazhar Iqbal was shot dead while three others received serious bullet wounds when he offered resistance during a robbery in the Shahdara police area. The injured persons were identified as Mobin, Javaid and Adeel. Police registered a case of dacoity-cum-murder against the unidentified robbers but failed to arrest anyone.
Meanwhile, robbers shot injured Ayesha and Mohammad Irfan in the Township police area on June 1.
On June 2, Arif and his cousin were shot at and injured in Nizamabad locality of Gujjarpura police area when they offered resistance to robbers. Gujjarpura police registered a case against the unidentified robbers under section 394 of the PPC but made no breakthrough in the case. On June 9, one Rashid was shot at and injured in Kot Lakhpat police area on resistance. Police showed ignorance about the incident. On the same day, one Mirajuddin was shot injured during a dacoity bid also on resistance. The police registered a case under section 381 of the PPC but no one was booked. On the same day, a man, named Sajid, was shot at and injured in Gulshan-e- Ravi when he offered resistance. Police showed ignorance about the incident which had happened in their area. In another incident on the same day, a police constable, Saleem Khan, was shot at and injured during a dacoity bid in Kahna police limits when he offered resistance. Police registered a case against the unidentified robbers but failed to book any one.
On June 11, Anwar was injured in Nashtor Colony police area when he offered resistance to robbers but police expressed ignorance about the incident.
On June 14, a man, named Mohammad Irfan, was shot at and injured by robbers when he offered resistance in Kahna police area. Police registered a case under section 394 of the PPC against unidentified robbers but police failed to find any clue. On June 14, one Khalid was shot at and injured in the Ravi Road police area. A case was registered against two unidentified robbers but police failed to arrest any one of them.
On June 15, Zubair Sheikh was shot at and injured when he offered resistance to robbers in the Shadbagh police area. However, police said that no such incident had happened in their jurisdiction.
On June 20, one Azam was injured in Baghbanpura police area by robbers when he offered them resistance but police were ignorant of the incident.
On June 26, Mohammad Aslam was shot at and injured by the unidentified robbers in Chuhng police limits when he offered them resistance.
On June 30, a son of Sheikh Akhtar was short at and injured by unidentified robbers during a robbery bid in the Badami Bagh police area. The Moharrar concerned said that no case was registered so far.
According to the data available with The News, the City Division was calculated on top with 200 reported incidents of crime against property during June, out of which six cars and eight motorcycles were also taken away.
Saddar Division was calculated on second number with 166 reported incidents of crime against property out of which 12 cars and 17 motorcycles were also stolen or snatched.
Model Town Division remained third with 135 reported incidents out of which 20 cars and 32 motorcycles were also taken away.
Cantt Division was calculated on fourth number with 108 reported incidents out of which 18 cars and 10 motorcycles were also stolen or snatched.
Iqbal Town Division remained fifth with 100 reported incidents out of which 17 cars and 12 motorcycles were also taken away.
Civil Lines Division remained last regarding crime against property incidents with 67 reported incidents out of which six cars and eight motorcycles were also stolen or snatched.
