Militants destroy road construction machinery in Shangla
BISHAM: Suspected militants blew up heavy road construction machinery barely at a distance of three kilometres from Alpuri, the headquarters of Shangla district in the small hours Monday, police sources said.
The sources said the machinery was owned by the construction company of Amir Muqam, the Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from Shangla district who served as federal minister during General Pervez Musharraf’s rule and is provincial president of the PML-Q.
The destroyed vehicles and machinery at Matta Aghwan area included a loader, roller, PTR machine and one bulldozer worth Rs10 million, the sources added. The sources said three powerful bombs were planted to destroy the machinery. The explosions caused concern in the mountainous Shangla district.
The incident happened hours after unknown armed militants pounded a police checkpoint on the Chakesar-Karora Road in Shangla killing three policemen.
