Islamabad: 17 persons arrested
ISLAMABAD: The capital police on Wednesday arrested 17 persons and recovered liquor, beer, narcotics, crackers, four pistols, one gun, 10 small sacks of crackers. A police spokesman said Shahzad Town police limits intercepted a group of four persons on suspicion. During their search 105 bottles of wine, 40 cans of beer, fake labels of imported liquor, utensils used in brewing wine were recovered.
The police suspected that the group is operating liquor distillery in the rural area of Shahzad Town and transporting the liquor and equipments for it.
Shalimar police on a tip-off raided a restaurant in sector G-10/4 and recovered 28 bottles of wine and 128 cans of beer which to the arrest of a Nigerian. Similarly, the Golra police arrested a drug peddler after recovery of hashish weighing 1.5kilogram from him. The Golra police also intercepted two persons and recovered crackers filled in 10 bags and a 12-bore gun.
The Sabzi Mandi police arrested a group of four persons, including two women and recovered opium and hashish weighing 5.5kilgrams and 660grams respectively.
The Tarnol police recovered three pistols of 10-bore from three persons. The Nilor police also recovered a 30–bore pistol from man. The Koral police arrested a man after recovering heroin weighing 215grams from him.
