Karachi: 6 pillion riders sent to jail
KARACHI: Six pillion riders were sent to jail on Thursday as they were unable to pay a surety of Rs5,000 as bail granted by the District West Magistrate.
The six pillion riders were produced in the court of the Judicial Magistrate, West, Afzal Roshan, for violating Section 144 imposed by the government of Sindh due to the prevailing law and order situation in the city.
The police arrested these people from different areas of district West late Wednesday night and cases were lodged in different police stations.
The Magistrate granted bail on surety of Rs5,000 each but as they failed to pay the amount they were sent to judicial lock-up.
Four of the pillions riders arrested from Steel Town and Shah Latif Town were released on personal bond.
Two each from Steel Town and Shah Latif Town were produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate, Malir, Ashfaq Mughal, for violating Section 144 were released on personal bond.
The Brigade police arrested six people for not obeying the government’s order were produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate East.
The magistrate granted bail of Rs5,000 each were later on released after furnishing bail.
The ban was imposed late Wednesday night by the government in the aftermath of killings. Most of the people were unaware of the ban when they were caught by the police on Thursday morning.
