Lahore: 6 killed in different incidents in city
LAHORE: At least six people were killed in different incidents in the provincial capital on Thursday. In the first incident, two young boys were killed while performing stunts on their motorcycles in the jurisdiction of North Cantt police. The deceased were identified as Ahasn, 22, of Mughalpura, and Zohaib, 23, of Akhri Minute Stop Baghbanpura.
The Rescue sources said that both deceased were close friends. The two, along with a group of motorcycle riders, were performing stunts when they lost control on their motorcycle and it rammed into a footpath near Abdullah Gul Interchange on Ring Road. Rescue 1122 and Edhi officials reached the spot and shifted them to a nearby hospital where they were pronounced dead. Their bodies were handed over their heirs after completion of legal formalities. In the second incident, a 30-year-old man was killed when a stray bullet hit him in Shahdara police limits.
The deceased was identified as Nazir Ahmad, a resident of Kala Khtai Road, Shahdara. Police said that Nazir was asleep at the roof of his house when a stray bullet hit him.
As a result, he was seriously wounded and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police have registered a murder case against an unidentified accused on the complaint of the deceased’s brother Anjum Sohail and removed the body to the city morgue for an autopsy. In the third incident, a man was shot dead by unidentified people in Sattukatla police precincts.
The victim was identified as Muhammad Khalid, a resident of Pattoki, who worked in a chicken shop in PIA Colony. According to the police, the victim was asleep in the shop when unidentified people shot him dead.
In the fourth incident, a 20-year-old boy was shot dead by four dacoits on resistance in the limits of Kotlakhpat police. The deceased was identified as Zahoor Ahmad, resident of Azad Kashmir. Police said that the victim was a security guard in a local factory owned by one Javed Iqbal.
Early, on Thursday, he saw four men entering into the factory. As he approached them, the armed men opened fire at him, injuring him seriously. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In another incident, a 55-year-old man was killed when two motorcycles collided with each other in Misri Shah police limits. The deceased was identified as Ayaz, resident of Rana Town. Police said that the victim was on his way on a motorcycle when he collided with another motorcycle, As a result Ayaz and two others sustained injuries. They were rushed to a nearby hospital where Ayaz succumbed to his injuries
Also, valuables worth thousands of rupees were gutted when fire broke out in a house in Gulshan Ravi. The cause of the fire was stated to be short circuit.
