Lahore: Accused handed case record
LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Thursday handed over the copies of the case record to four accused of attack on Sri Lankan cricket team. On the next hearing, July 14, charges will be framed against the accused. On Thursday, the court handed over the copies of the case record to accused Aman Ullah, Javed Anwer, Abdul Rehman and Ubaid Ullah.
Meanwhile, the court has summoned the prosecution witnesses against three other accused in the same case, Zubair alias Naik Muhammad, Malik Ishaq and Abdul Wahab.
Previously, the CIA had submitted challan against the accused. According to the case, the CIA had arrested Ubaid Ullah alias Zubair, Aman Ullah alias Asad Ullah, Abdul Wahab alias Umer and Zubair alias Naik Muhammad and others for their alleged involvement in the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team. In the attack, six Sri Lankan players Mahela Jayawaredene, Kumar Sangakkara, Ajantha Mendis, Thilan Samaraweera, Tharanga Paranavitana and Chaminda Vaas had sustained injuries. Six policemen were killed in the attack.
Earlier, police had arrested Abdul Wahab alias Umer and Zubair alias Naik Muhammad. According to the police investigation report, terror suspects had a plan to take the cricket team hostage to get the arrested commanders of TTP released.
Later, aforementioned accused were arrested on a tip-off provided by already arrested two terrorists Zubair alias Naik Muhammad and Abdul Wahab.
