Lahore: 5 killed, 12 injured in various incidents in city
LAHORE: At least five people were killed and 12 others injured in various incidents across the provincial capital on Friday. According to Rescue 1122 and Edhi sources, 10 people received serious injuries when a roof of a dilapidated house situated in Akram Park Sandah collapsed.
Rescue 1122 and locals reached the spot and removed the trapped people, Ahsan, Amina, Husnain, Iram, Umar Farooq, Zahoor, Shazia, Samreen, Imran and Romana from debris and shifted them to a nearby hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger. Yet in another incident in China Scheme, a man and his wife received injuries when roof of their house caved in due to heavy rain. The injured Rizwan and his wife were taken to a local hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.
In another incident, two brothers lost their lives while their cousin sustained multiple injuries in a road accident near Kala Shah Kaku Interchange.
The deceased were identified as Saddam Hussain and his brother Amir Hussain. Police said that Saddam, Amir and Usman were on their way on a motorcycle when a car hit them. As a result, Saddam and Amir died on the spot while Usman received serious injuries. He was shifted to a nearby hospital where his condition was stated to be out of danger. Police removed the bodies to the morgue and registered a case against the unidentified driver.
Meanwhile, Wahdat Colony police recovered the body of a 25-year-old man hanging from a tree. The deceased, yet to be identified, was hanging from a tree near Goal Bagh Ground behind the police station. Some locals of the area spotted the body and informed the police about it. Police removed the dead body to morgue.
Also, two unidentified men were found dead in the Lower Mall and Naulakha police precincts. The deceased, yet to be identified, were lying dead near Data Darbar and Boharwala Chowk. Police claimed that the deceased were addicts and died of excessive use of drugs. The bodies were removed to morgue for autopsy. Two people sustained serious injuries when they offered resistance to robbers in different incidents.
In the first incident, a 26-year-old man sustained serious injuries when he resisted robbers in Faisal Park, Shahdara. Yet in another incident, Saeed Gujjar, 30, a resident of Wahdat Colony also sustained injuries when he offered resistance during a robbery bid.
Meanwhile, valuables worth thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes when fire broke out in three different areas of city. The cause of fires is stated to be short circuit.
