4 more militants killed in Kurram clash
SADDA: Four militants were killed and 12 others sustained injuries in a clash with the security forces during the ongoing operation in Kurram Agency, official and tribal sources said on Saturday.
The sources said the clash took place in Saparkat area after the militants opened fire on the security forces, injuring four soldiers. In the ensuing gun-battle, the sources said, four militants were killed and another 12 sustained injuries.
The security forces have been conducting operation against the militants in Ali Sherzai and Zemisht areas of the Kurram Agency for the last seven days.
Meanwhile, people in the affected areas continued to leave their homes for safer places. Officials said that around 788 displaced families had been registered at the Durrani camp in Sadda.
Thousands of people took shelter in government buildings in various areas of lower Kurram valley. Some of them rented homes while many others were staying with relatives.
It was learnt that some 633 displaced families were living under the open sky in Tora, Oray, Naryab and certain other areas of Doaba tehsil in Hangu district.
Local sources said the displaced people living at the Durrani camp were faced with a host of problems. There was shortage of drinking water and other facilities at the camp.
